A new approach for scheduling of multipurpose batch processes with unlimited intermediate storage policy

Nikolaos Rakovitis, Nan Zhang, Jie Li, Liping Zhang

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2019, Volume 13, Issue 4,   Pages 784-802 doi: 10.1007/s11705-019-1858-4

Abstract: The increasing demand of goods, the high competitiveness in the global marketplace as well as the need to minimize the ecological footprint lead multipurpose batch process industries to seek ways to maximize their productivity with a simultaneous reduction of raw materials and utility consumption and efficient use of processing units. Optimal scheduling of their processes can lead facilities towards this direction. Although a great number of mathematical models have been developed for such scheduling, they may still lead to large model sizes and computational time. In this work, we develop two novel mathematical models using the unit-specific event-based modelling approach in which consumption and production tasks related to the same states are allowed to take place at the same event points. The computational results demonstrate that both proposed mathematical models reduce the number of event points required. The proposed unit-specific event-based model is the most efficient since it both requires a smaller number of event points and significantly less computational time in most cases especially for those examples which are computationally expensive from existing models.

Xing-guo ZHU,Lu YU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2015, Volume 16, Issue 10,   Pages 883-891 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1500071

Abstract: As a KLT matrix usually contains non-integers, integer-KLT design is a classical problem. In this paper, a joint reversibility-gain (R-G) model is proposed for integer-KLT design in video codingThus, the R-G model can be explained as follows: subject to a certain TCG LR, an integer-KLT with thebest reversibility is the optimal integer transform for a given non-integer-KLT.Experimental results show that the R-G model can guide the design of integer-KLTs with good performance

Abstract:

A linear oscillating motor is an electromagnetic actuator that can achieve short-stroke reciprocatingIt has been widely used in linear pump applications as the source of power and motion. However, because of the demand of high power density in a linear actuation system, the performance oflinear oscillating motors has been the focus of studies and deserves further research for high powerlinear pump applications.

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 3,   Pages 320-324 doi: 10.1007/s11783-009-0030-7

Abstract: The best-fit equations of linear and non-linear forms of the two widely used kinetic models, namely pseudo-first-orderThe results show that the non-linear forms of pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models weremore suitable than the linear forms for fitting the experimental data. The experimental kinetics may have been distorted by linearization of the linear kinetic equations, andthus, the non-linear forms of kinetic equations should be primarily used to obtain the adsorption parameters
